What makes the video read as real
Animated typing keyboard
"Me" messages type out character by character on an iOS or Gboard keyboard, and the chat lifts as the keyboard slides up — the detail that separates a real-looking video from a slideshow.
Per-message timing
Every message has its own delay and an optional typing bubble before it. A reply after a long pause tells a different story than one that snaps back — and you set every beat.
Platform-accurate chrome
The video uses the same pixel-accurate UI as the screenshot generators — bubble shapes, tick colours, the iMessage "Read" indicator, status bar. Nothing looks different just because it's moving.
Speed & length control
A global 0.5x–2x speed control and configurable start/end padding fit a 6–10 message conversation cleanly into the 20-second beta limit.
How it works
1. Pick a generator
Open the Studio and choose the WhatsApp or iMessage chat generator — the two that support video today.
2. Type the conversation
Build the chat as you would a screenshot. Set delays, typing bubbles and reactions per message.
3. Switch to the Video tab
Set the global speed and pacing, then loop the preview until the rhythm feels right.
4. Render the MP4
Hit render. Your video lands in the panel for download and a link goes to your inbox.
Who uses these tools
Content creators
TikTok and Reels storytime — the "you won't believe what they texted me" format, with the chat playing out live instead of as static frames.
Pranksters & comedians
A fake text exchange that unfolds on screen is far more convincing — and funnier — than a still screenshot.
Marketers
Show a product or support conversation happening rather than telling viewers about it. Drops straight into a vertical-video ad.
Skit & drama editors
Let a scripted conversation breathe with real pacing, typing pauses and reactions instead of hard cuts between screenshots.

Common questions
01What is a fake text message video?+
It's a short video that plays out a text conversation message by message — bubbles appear in sequence, typing indicators show, and the chat scrolls like a real phone screen recording. Creators use them for TikTok and Reels storytime content. HeyFake renders one from a fake chat you build in the browser, exported as a clean MP4.
02Is the fake text message video maker free?+
Yes. Building the chat is free and unlimited. Video rendering is in beta — free accounts get 2 renders per day, up to 20 seconds each. We added the limit because rendering is compute-heavy; it will be revisited as the beta matures.
03Which platforms can I make a video for?+
Video mode currently supports the fake WhatsApp chat and fake iMessage chat generators. Both render the conversation with platform-accurate bubbles, typing indicators and an on-screen keyboard. More generators are being added.
04Can I add a typing animation and keyboard?+
Yes. "Me" messages type out character by character into the input bar with an animated iOS or Gboard keyboard, and the chat lifts as the keyboard slides up. Incoming messages can show a typing bubble before they appear. Both are on by default and adjustable per message.
05How long can the video be?+
Up to 20 seconds per render during the beta. You control pacing with per-message delays and a global speed setting (0.5x–2x), so a 9-message conversation comfortably fits.
06Is it safe to make fake text videos?+
The chat is built entirely in your browser — message content is not sent anywhere until you render. Fake text videos are for satire, storytime content, mockups and pranks. Using them to defraud, defame or impersonate a real person is not what the tool is for, and the responsibility for that is on you.
